These pictures emphasize the importance of keeping construction sediment out of infiltration basins to prevent plugging. The bio-rolls will prevent sediment from construction activities from getting into the rain garden/bio-filtration area

Distinctions between the various categories of BMPs can be blurred. The small bioretentions basins scattered about the lots also serve as rain gardens.

The congregation chose to treat their stormwater this way because:

• it would be better for the nearby stream's water quality,
• it would be more aesthetically pleasing,
• it would be a demonstration project to encourage others to do as they did and help educate their children as well as the parents.

September 2006, after a season of growth:

There were no regulatory or zoning ordinances that forced the church to decide on this method.  Fortunately, they are very happy with the results and welcome any form of attention to the rain gardens. They would welcome groups or individuals to stop by and take a look.
